Debut: Bandon

Hey everybody!

I’ve got a busy day ahead and will be heading out of town shortly for … guessed it…volleyball!  Then it is back home late tonight and then tomorrow it is back on the road for a weekend tournament.  Eryn is a senior and her high school playing days are nearing an end.  We’ve gone through this with two daughters already but it is always bittersweet.  I’m excited for her future plans and those may include volleyball, but for now, it is high school and just a reminder how each day is her “last” of “that” day she’ll have as a high school student.  It always makes me a little sad.

But before I go, I wanted to show you this little gem.  It is Bandon, named after a town on the southern coast of Oregon.  Oregon’s coastline is pretty spectacular in all seasons.  The winter provides for intense storm and whale watching while summer allows for leisurely walks, great sunsets and night fires on the beach.  Yesterday, Ringo Starr’s yacht was photographed just off the coast.  I found that kind of funny – not somebody who I’d expect to be sailing their yacht up in these parts.  I will say that he should think about upgrading.  A little small.

This fun little desk looks like something you’d find in a beach cottage along Oregon’s world-famous coastline.  Made to look like it has been weathered by the salty air, its underlying finishes are exposed.  Graphics are a huge part of design and nothing says a statement like bold stripes. New hardware from Pottery Barn provides a great organizational feature.  Sized for a child – or add casters for an adult.  Given new life, it is ready to weather years of use in your home.

This was done with ASCP Old Ochre, Graphite and a touch of Paris Gray – then sealed with a clear wax.  The graphite almosts appears as a deep navy blue on this piece.  It is a pretty old piece but very solid.

One more thing…

I want to give you a heads up that I’m having issues with my Gallery page.  I have some changes that I need to make to this website anyway so I’m going to have it all done at once.  Until then, I will just keep posting pictures. However I will have a more user friendly page available in the near future!

See you all tomorrow.  Thanks again for the emails and comments.  I really appreciate the feedback!
