Debut: Meriwether

It is Monday and the start of another week of to-do’s, to-wants and to-morrows.

First, I want to give a big thank you to Jennifer at Social Salutations for highlighting Finn Rock as one of her Friday-I’m-In-Love favorites.

Next, let’s start the week off with another introduction.

Meriwether
the before shot…

This beautiful chest of drawers perhaps gives us insight as to the vision of Meriwether Lewis as he and Clark made their trek across the United States to the Oregon territory.  Use this piece in a foyer, den, bedroom, or anywhere!  It is multi-functional.

The drawers needed a little Mr. Fix-It for stabilization purposes but they are as good as new vintage now. I purposely left some of the small imperfections such as the chips and nail holes near the edges. The drawers were stripped and left natural.  The body was painted with Sherwin Williams Warm Stone with three coats of poly over the entire piece.   The bottom two drawers have the original hardware and the casters are the original wood.

Oh, and I might as well namedrop while I am at it –  Meriwether Lewis just happens to be a great, great, great (another great?) uncle of mine.

This week I hope to be able to tackle some shelves and some DIY knock-offs that I will have tutorials for. I will also be heading back out to my shop.  Here is a piece that I will be working on:

AM I CRAZY??!! (Please don’t answer that.)

She made it to the championship game on Saturday, but in the end, lost by a few points.  Tonight is another big game for her.  Let’s hope she has this smile on her face AFTER it is over:

Finally, this is too stinkin’ cute to not share.  Sometimes I wish I could just be him for an hour:

I also wanted to thank everyone for stopping by. In the two weeks that I have been blogging, I have had over 4,400 views.  So thank you for coming back and I would love it if you became an official follower.

Hope the start of your week is grand,

  3. I just love the pieces that you do! I've put some of them as inspiration on my pinterest. I've seen a couple of people strip down furniture and leave it with the natural wood. I'm wondering if you put oil or waxed the wood for protection? I love the look!

Very pretty–I like that you left the drawer faces natural wood and painted the rest. Also, great styling in the first photo–you're a natural. Thanks for linking up to my party this week.

  18. I love what you did with this dresser. I have a couple old ones that are out in the shed because I just don't have room for them. I bet if I did something like your's to mine, I would find a place for them.

Another great looking piece, Shari! I like the variations in the wood tones on the drawer faces. That detail adds a lot of interest.

A relative of Meriwether Lewis, huh? Must be where you get your adventurous spirit. ;)
