Hello all…
Remember when I showed you how I make new wood look old? For that post, I stripped the top of a desk down and then used the aging technique to get the look of old wood, using only a few household items – no paint or stain.
Here is the finished piece:
Rainier is a tiny town in Northwestern Oregon located along the Columbia River. In this picture, you can see its namesake, Mt. Rainier (located in Washington), from town.

Turning lifetime passion into livelihood. It's about time! I'm Shari. I am a 40-something wife, mother, corporate professional turned design stylist, avid sports fan, and usually exhausted 24/7 keeping up with it all. I love my family, my home, my work...and the chaos that comes with it. I also happen to adore my beagle, Scout.

Love your desk do over, it came out great. If you get a chance stop by and see our dresser make over, Laura
I am ready for the geography question on Jeopardy tonight, Shari!

Beautiful job on that desk, Shari! I happened to paint a desk just like that with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint this summer! Sold it at a flea market and made a bunch of money!

I love, love, LOVE your desk!!! What a fantastic piece it turned out to be. Amazing. I am this instant adding you to my favourite bloggers (and adding myself to your followers as well). xx
I really love how this turned out. I am working on a similar desk right now and have been debating about how to do the top. I may try this idea.
Om another note, I used to live across the river from Rainier in Longview. We used to cross over that bridge all the time going to rodeos.
Love the color of this desk. The top turned out great. Can't believe it didn't require any stain.
I like how you kept the finish on top of the desk and added the color below:) I've been debating whether or not to refinish my dresser and doing a multicolor finish like this, but I just wasn't for sure… This makes me want to try it! Thanks for sharing this!

That desk is beautiful. I rode my bicycle across the country a few years ago and started in Astoria. I think I either went through or was close to Rainier. Oregon is a very diverse state. I don't think people realize that you border ocean, have ski slopes, have beautiful forests, and then have almost desert conditions in the east. It's a beautiful state.
Really nice looking desk! Love the look.
Shari, I'm not sure how I missed this one but I just saw it featured on Catch as Catch Can. It is STUNNING.
Such a beauty, love the richness in the color. Your resytles are dynamite
