Happy Monday,
It has been a little while since I showed you any furniture. I plan on getting back to my regular furniture schedule soon which will hopefully mean furniture debuts on a more frequent basis. Let’s get started with this one -

This is the only “before” shot I have. Ugh…I think I see a pattern developing.
You may notice that the Citristrip is already on it in the picture. I wanted to create a little ruggedness with the finish so I avoided stripping it completely.
After I removed the Citristrip, this is what it looked like:

This was done with ASCP in Old White with light distressing and dual waxes – going easy on the dark.

The wood on white is a stark contrast – just like the tree.

I had some back plates on hand and painted them with an antique bronze spray, then added rope for the handles to punctuate the rugged feel.

I love my crackled owl – and my little piece of DIY art I made with some birch paper and a fun stamp. (Shown in the first picture.)

Do you see what I see in this picture?
Anyway, this is a small piece and after I finished it, I realized it reminded me of the birch tree – which is one of my favorite trees. A favorite because of the bark - I’ve always loved the color contrast.

Turning lifetime passion into livelihood. It's about time! I'm Shari. I am a 40-something wife, mother, corporate professional turned design stylist, avid sports fan, and usually exhausted 24/7 keeping up with it all. I love my family, my home, my work...and the chaos that comes with it. I also happen to adore my beagle, Scout.

Oh, what an awesome piece! I love doing the dual finishes anytime I can. It just sets the piece off! I also ADORE how you did the handles! Just super!
Darling! I see the smile in those handles. The finish really suits this piece!
Love this! Adorable!

I love the rustic feel, the color contrast and the smiling pulls! Nicely done Shari! We have two birch trees in our yard and the are my favorites! I also have plans for a birch tree stencil coming up soon!

You ALWAYS do such a wonderful job on your furniture makeovers, Shari! I really like the contrasts of that piece. By the way, "birch" is one of favorite trees, too.
Thanks for joining the party. I love having you participate in Time Travel Thursday each week.
Blessings,
Liz @ The Brambleberry Cottage
