Furniture Debut: Birch

Happy Monday,

It has been a little while since I showed you any furniture.  I plan on getting back to my regular furniture schedule soon which will hopefully mean furniture debuts on a more frequent basis.   Let’s get started with this one -

Introduction:  Birch

This is the only “before” shot I have.  Ugh…I think I see a pattern developing.

You may notice that the Citristrip is already on it in the picture.  I wanted to create a little ruggedness with the finish so I avoided stripping it completely.

After I removed the Citristrip, this is what it looked like:

I then pulled two of my favorite products off my shelf…

and gave it a good facelift:

The wood on white is a stark contrast – just like the tree.

I had some back plates on hand and painted them with an antique bronze spray, then added rope for the handles to punctuate the rugged feel.

I love my crackled owl – and my little piece of DIY art I made with some birch paper and a fun stamp.  (Shown in the first picture.)

Do you see what I see in this picture?

Anyway, this is a small piece and after I finished it, I realized it reminded me of the birch tree – which is one of my favorite trees. A favorite because of the bark -  I’ve always loved the color contrast.

Aren’t they beautiful trees?
