Furniture Debut: Phoenix

Happy Monday!

It feels like forever since I did a “real” post. My blog has been in transition from Blogger to Word Press for the last week. There are still a few little tweaks with some links that I need to take care but for the most part, it is user friendly and ready for touring!

I will talk more about the changes tomorrow, but for now…enough about the transition.

Today it is all about furniture!

This is Phoenix.

When this dresser was brought to me, it was begging for a makeover.  The finish on the top was peeling off and the stain on the body as faded.

The owner said she already had a name picked out for the new-do: Phoenix.  Why?  Because she said it would be rising from the ashes to live a new life. So Phoenix it is!

Here is the before…and like usual, I forgot to take the picture BEFORE I started working on it.  Here, I have already stripped the top of the dresser.  It had the same stain as the drawers, but a lot of it was peeling off.

I used three Annie Sloan Chalk paint colors.  Can you guess which three?

Barcelona Orange

Provence

Versailles

Does that seem like an odd color combination?

Well, check out this gorgeous textile….

That was my inspiration.  It is the bedding for the bedroom this piece will be going home to.

I knew orange would be the dominant color once I laid my eyes on that, but I decided to layer color for drama.

If you look closely, you can see where the undertones of the Versailles and Provence come through.  I did this by pulling the Barcelona off in places to expose more of those colors.

The owner wanted to keep the original hardware so I just spruced it up by giving a good coat in metallic taupe.

I admit…I am in love with the color combinations.

This will be added to my new gallery.  If you haven’t had a chance to look at it, please do!  I’m really excited to be able to provide you with a user-friendly system to view my furniture, projects, tips, etc… (again, you may come across a few links that don’t work properly yet…but I will be taking care of those over the next few days.)

Have a great day today!!

Be inspired,

PS:  If the pictures look smaller than usual, it is because they are!  I had some issues with my Live Write recognizing my WP theme so that is another thing I will be working on!
