DIY Décor With Vintage Shovels

I’ve got some good dirt to share today!

A few months ago, my sister snagged some vintage shovels at an estate sale for me.  I know…shovels aren’t that exciting, but I knew they would make great pieces to sell in the fall in my space at Indulge.  There is something about an old industrious tool.  The worn wood, the rusted metal, the history…and fall is the best time to reflect on what those tools represent.  Not to mention the color palette – or lack thereof – that fits with the season.

Of course, who would just put a shovel in their house as fall décor?

Probably nobody.

Unless one was to dress them up a little…

Some typography, stripes and rope handles and voila!  Instant industrial décor for fall.

On your front porch, back porch, or inside.  Anything goes.

Oh…and I’m not sure if you can tell by looking at the picture, but I added some Patina Rub N Buff to “Dirt.”
