It is a new week and time for a new debut.
North Powder.
A name that reflects the color, the upcoming winter ski season, and a town in eastern Oregon that has a lot of history.
It started out as a secretary far beyond retirement.
She needed a fresh start.
Some fresh powder.
Fresh powder in a light shade of Old Ochre.
Before you think she is too good for her britches, just remember, she may look different on the outside, but on the inside, she is still the same secretary.
No accessories needed.
You may see that she shed a few pounds as well.
Yep – the bottom door is no longer there.
It has now become this:
Chalk it up to old age I guess.
Be inspired,

Turning lifetime passion into livelihood. It's about time! I'm Shari. I am a 40-something wife, mother, corporate professional turned design stylist, avid sports fan, and usually exhausted 24/7 keeping up with it all. I love my family, my home, my work...and the chaos that comes with it. I also happen to adore my beagle, Scout.

Love it Shari! What an unusual piece, I’ve never seen anything like it, great transformation!
LOVE the antique look of it! That off-white paint colour is perfection.
Fresh powder was just the thing for that ski bunny!
So sorry you had the flu – hope you’re feeling better (just look at your gorgeous secretary)!
Kelly
I love the look of this piece, you captured a really antique look. Love it!!!
Cynthia

Only way I could think of not to write what I do on all your furniture posts.

Beautiful improvement! I love the color, with the wood still showing inside. Great work. -K

Cute! I love salvaged furniture! She has a bright future ahead!
This piece is so pretty – I love how it turned out! Can you share a little of your process? Did you use dark wax/clear wax? Thanks for any info – I am soon going to paint a hutch, and this is the exact look I want!
Brenda
Very pretty…I love her makeover. Who couldn’t afford to shed a few pounds…especially if you gain a chalboard?
Kelly
So beautiful! And I love what you did with the door, that’s awesome! I came over from Crafty Texas Girls, and I’d love it if you came over and said hi at “my place” too!

Wow! what a wonderful transformation. I love it! The shape of the wood around the top of the glass inserts really adds so much interest. You did a great job bringing it back to life!
It is absolutely beautiful – I love the blackboard idea from the door ….
I love this sooo much! It is absolutely beautiful! Although it makes me itch nervously because, I, I, I want to grab it and start wallpapering the back inside of the cabinet! Lol!!!
That is beautiful!!
Love the redo, so nice! I like to take doors off too and open shelves up!
Oh how beautiful she is! I have an old secretary that is needing a paint job to get her noticed for her many beautiful qualities. thank you for the inspiration! How lovely!!

Awesome ~ sharing at the party tonight~ thanks for linking up at Feathered Nest Friday!
Another winner, with the usual entertaining tale to accompany the photos. Your pieces consistently reflect the gift of restraint, otherwise known as the Goldilocks Gambit: not too much or too little but always juuuuuust right.
Thanks, Shari! You do inspire me, every single time.
Pam
Hello!
To tell the truth, I have no idea how I actually go there. I think it was following this lovely secretary from Ms. Mustard Seed’s Friday thing. I just wanted to tell you how much this piece speaks to me. I’m a reuser, rebuilder, and recycler but am just now garnering courage to try to distress and antique some of the many pieces I have. I’m off now to browse around your site!
Thanks,
Christine
