When decorating a room, or adding to my closet, I would have to say that my all-time favorite textile is leather. I love the look, the feel, the smell. I love new leather, old leather and even faux leather – sometimes
.
If you want to see a mega dramatic eye roll from Mr. Honey-Do, put something like this in front of me:
Or this…
And it doesn’t change when transitioning to my home.
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you may have noticed that I’m not a frilly person. My décor style, for the most part, tends to be gender balanced. Do I do that to keep our home appealing to my husband? My son?
Of course. I’m kind of awesome that way.
But I have to tell ya, if it was just me around these parts, my home would probably look the same. Perhaps it is growing up more tomboy than princess (not to stereotype of course. LOL.) Don’t get me wrong, I like soft textures, all things white, and a little bling here and there, but it is the straight lines, natural woods and neutral tones that anchor my spaces.
And part of that anchor is leather.
For a while now, my eye has specifically been drawn to saddle leather. I love the color tone and feel of it.
And fall is the perfect time to make it a focal point.
It is classic and can be added to any room regardless of decorating style.

Finally, here is a sampling of some of the things I have in my home. Not all is saddle leather, but I’m getting there (insert the Mister’s eye roll here.)
How about you? Are you a leather lover?

Turning lifetime passion into livelihood. It's about time! I'm Shari. I am a 40-something wife, mother, corporate professional turned design stylist, avid sports fan, and usually exhausted 24/7 keeping up with it all. I love my family, my home, my work...and the chaos that comes with it. I also happen to adore my beagle, Scout.

I agree, you are awesome like that
I do love leather and my heart skipped a beat when I saw that sofa!

Shari…love the leather inspirations….I tried those boots on at Nordstroms!!…They were on sale…but I went with the Frye basic black….I have seen so many things that have been accented with “belts”…such a great look….
Have a great week!! Still trying to catch up on blog reading after the conference!!!…
I love all the inspiration. Those riding boots are great. I love riding boots. Love the bags in the first shot.

Shari,
What timing…I was just admiring my leather sofa and thinking how much I love it. It does, however, need some TLC, especially on the seat cushions. Do you happen to have any tips or product advice on how to revitalize leather?
I so agree! Diamonds don’t do it for me, but leather, oh yeah. We have some leather (like our custom heritage leather sofa and our king headboard) but I would love to have more. And boots when I can afford them too. My favourite retail space is a ROOTS store (not sure if you have them in the States.) All those leather bags and boots in one place, and the colours and textiles {sigh}.
