Brrrrr…..we have been in a freeze for almost two weeks now and as much as I love winter, I’m getting tired of it. The fog came inland and decided not to leave, freezing on everything it touches as it drops to the ground.
It is perfect timing I guess because I’m in a fog as well. A brain-freeze.
I tell ya, it is a true conundrum.
I have these burlap bags….
Eight, to be exact.
And I don’t know what to do with them.
I am…
And in home décor blogland…
There is no time for that. Decisions need to be made.
I want to do something with these that will make all of you…

I’d like to add them to my spring inventory so they must be something others would want in their home. Not just me.
They are lined:
Have a square bottom:
And some handles:
And are totally wired:
Sound like anyone you know?
(Mr. Honey-Do: if you are reading this post today, you are not allowed to answer that.)
So, what do I do?
Should I…

or hit up…
or just keep my…

Think spring.
Think retail.
Think simple.
And please get me off this fence. It is a little rough on the backside.
Be inspired,

I would look for some clip art over at The Graphic Fairy’s site and perhaps find something to do with small potted flowers or herbs.
I think thy are perfect for carrying garden tools. If you can find graphics for old seed packets to put on the sides of
the bag – he theme would be perfect.
Oh girl, I’m so glad you posted this! Because I have the same burlap containers and don’t know what to do with them! I can’t wait for your ideas to roll in
Debbie
Hi Shari, I agree with the first post, the first thing I thought of is to hold flower pots. Don’t know what the size is ,but it would be a nice change to cover your pots. Give dimensions, maybe something else will come up!
So if I read the comments correct, Debbie is stalking the replies for help because you both have square bottoms and some handles. Hope a handle doesn’t catch on the fence on the way down, but a square bottom should make it easier to sit there than a round one.
Yeah, I know…. none of that was very helpful at all, soooo… graphics of some kind, stamps would be ok. If something amazing comes to me I’ll let ‘ya know.
Round Bottom Bliss
Those are very clearly “May baskets” and are calling to be filled with fresh flowers and hung on your neighbors door so that you can ring their doorbell and run!
I would do a combination of stamping and embroidery. I envision flowers, bunnies, big sunshine motifs, cute bicycle, a child walking down a lane. Oh my, I want some now!
They would great to plop a potted herb in. Perhaps the front of the bag could be embroidered (or painted) with the name of the herb, i.e. “Rosemary”, “Thyme”, etc. The great things about bags is you can use them for virtually anything.
could you sew some pockets on the sides and make them garden totes? or add things like “produce” or “farmer’s market” to them because they look perfect for farmer’s market shopping.
I would love to see some pretty and colorful lining in these. I have a similar basket that holds lap quilts and blankets in my family room..just wish mine had that wire rim! Maybe a simple and elegant monogram stamped on the sides. Good luck…
So many ideas – stenciled numbers or transfer on some garden tools pictures!
You can’t go wrong!

W/ wire rims and handles so short , my guess is they are not made for carrying apples or knitting or suchlike, as the handles won’t meet in the middle.
So, as earlier posters suggest, they will have to be used as a static container. I like Kelly’s suggestion to stencil on numbers. It’s fast and easy. Price point probably won’t stand for anything elaborate. And the fabric is on the rustic side, so plant container seems logical. Sell them with a rosemary or lavender plant, or, if they are large enough, make it a four-pack of pots of herbs. The buyer can decide what to do with them later.
If you wanted to do a little more work, fill them with scrap hard wood cut to the height of the basket, and sell as a basket of kindling. It’s a neat container and with square bottoms will set nicely on the hearth.
PS, I meant, the buyer can decide what to do with the basket……..not the herbs….we all know what to do with those….
It’s getting late and my brain is foggy, but it’s still a long way from 6:40 AM!!!!!
If I had them I would affix a white star fish shell to one side, and fill with pastel hand towels for the guest bathroom,or other bathroom necessities.Towels, soap, tissue, etc.
Could you make lampshades out of them cutting out the bottom and turn them upside down?
What size are they? I think they’d do a nice job organizing pantry goods. Also stenciling in black always looks nice on burlap…perhaps numbers or food labels “potatoes” “onions” etc.
Herbs in pots with labels is a fine idea too. I’d use it for either of those purposes!
