Hey there -
So, we all know that one of the easiest ways to change up your home décor is to switch pillows out.
Yes, I generally take my change-outs farther than just some pillows, but my pillows are most often what I work off of when deciding which direction I want to go.
For the spring season last year, I went green.
Switchin’ up pillows is easy. It requires zero commitment.
What it does require though, is a lot of storage space if you have a lot of pillows.
But I don’t have a lot of pillows…just a lot of pillow covers.
I have “collected” them over the years for all seasons.
I love having covers in all shapes and patterns. It allows me to get creative by mixing and matching and by doing something different each time.
While I have some very specific seasonal covers, I also have a handful that are season-neutral and can be swapped out year-round.
Note to self: work on that summer stash!
My fall covers are my favorite. I love the textures and colors.
The creamy winters are my post-holiday go-to’s.
I store them year round in my vintage wash bin that I keep in the great room.
(Yep – one of the last great mysteries has now been solved….”just what does she keep in the vintage wash bin tucked away in the corner???!!” )
And what about all of the pillow inserts that go in them?
Well, remember the big yellow chest that discreetly sits in my great room as well?
It has to pull its weight around here too.
Although it looks like I have a lot, keep in mind that I have many more covers than I do inserts (which is the whole idea.) I keep the minimal amount of inserts I need in a variety of sizes. I also keep my white slip covers in there which take up a good amount of space.
Works like a charm!
I have a few more covers that I didn’t show you since they are being used in other areas of my home – and I was simply too lazy to go gather them for pictures.
I excluded the covers I’m using this spring from the photos as well – for now. I’ll show you what I selected soon.
So how about you? Are you a “cover girl?”
Be inspired,

I never thought of getting pillow covers to change with the seasons. That’s a smart idea. Now I just have to get a new couch worthy of pillows.

I have the same thing. Tons of covers and less inserts since I usually use the same amount of pillows all the time and just switch the covers.
Great post. I love your vintage washtub idea.
Great post, I love all of your pillow covers.

Couldnt live without all my pillows and pillow covers….it just brightens up a space each time I switch them out and I look forward to it. I love some of your color and pattern choices and wish I had a big yellow trunk to store them but I keep t hem in an under the bed rubber maid bin that allows me to see them without opening the top. Keeps them dust free and out of sight when not in use.
Can you come to my house and do that for me? It is all I can do to keep my kitchen clean and my laundry up to date. I always have too much paint on my hands to change out my pillows, but I would so love to! You have inspired me!
Love pillow covers…..a great seasonal change up…and the covers are so great for storage…I have purged most of my inserts and use the pillow inserts that are actually on the furniture….I love your vintage wash bin…a great storage piece.
