The other day I showed you some new bedding I had purchased to give my room a little facelift for the fall season. In addition to showing you what it looks like on the bed, I thought I’d show you how I have my room styled to appeal to both of us.
The last time I showed you my room, it was decorated for Christmas with all white bedding and seasonal touches – snow included.
Here is BEFORE #1:
And BEFORE #2:
Like I said before, I love all white bedding but I thought I needed to switch it up a little for a while – just in time for fall.
This is what it looks like now:
With regard to the décor – and this goes for pretty much everywhere in my home – I want to make it appealing for all of us with things for “him” and things for “her.”
Luckily, John and I have a lot of the same tastes so it isn’t hard.
In our room, there is a variety of textures and textiles.
An old cast iron key anchors this grouping of French Hound pictures.
We are dog lovers – as you know – so these were perfect for wall art.
One of my favorite “wall art” pieces is this antique leaded glass window that we found years ago. A couple of eye hooks and some rope and you have a perfect conversation piece. I have showed you how I use old windows in other ways in my home before.
Down our “master alley” you will find a simple quote above the door that leads in to the master bathroom.
It is a quote that many of you have seen, and was a favorite of my mother-in-law who passed away in 2010.
This antique cabinet houses his stuff on the left, and my stuff on the right, with neutral storage in the middle.
I love how the softness of the bedding is juxtaposed against the powerful Ponderosa pine bed that we had custom built for us a few years ago.
So there you go…another peek inside my room.
Do you make an effort to style your home for him as well as for you?
