Sometimes, one is indeed the loneliest number and to get a match made in heaven, it takes two to tango.
Well, something like that anyway.
In other words, I painted two tables.
And I called them The Doublets.
I wanted them to look timeless.
…and since the tables themselves are pretty basic, I had to rely on the hardware to create a classic look.
Here is what they looked like before:
I used American Paint Company in Rushmore, clear wax and a little dark, along with some American Grit to create the “over-time build-up.”
If you aren’t familiar with American Grit, is a product by APC – a light powder – that you apply just after you wax while it is still wet. As it dries, it will create a textured finish that mimics the layers of aging build-up that true timepieces acquire.
It is a fun product to use once in a while to make a piece stand out. I’ll try to do a demonstration post for you soon, but for now, you’ll just have to take my word for it.
These will be in the store next week. My fall inventory is slowly arriving and I’ll be making some changes at the store for the upcoming season. I can’t believe we are only a few weeks away from September and that the retail season has already started. Crazy!
Today I am taking the day off from work and heading over the mountain with a couple of the kids for lunch and ice cream at Sno Cap. Perfect day to end the week.
Have a great Friday and an even better weekend!
